The tail lights and trailer wiring in modern vehicles are monitored through the vehicles computer. The computer senses power draw in amps. Usually the computers will allow a MAX of 4 to 5 amps MAXIMUM in addition before the computer turns off the circuit. It isn't a Fuse, it is the circuit.
